Singular Numbers EP

artist: ICR
title: Singular Numbers EP
label: Glack Audio
catalogue: GLAU003
format: digital download
date: 12/2007
country: Hungary

info:
GLACK AUDIO 003: Hungarian drum & bass producer ICR made some deep house tracks with his unique sounds. If you like the musical, atmospheric side of drum & bass, you will like it on pure house beats too… Sure enough! Praised by DJ Flight to The Timewriter.

tracklist:
1. Stop, Look Back
2. I'm The Edge Of Your Coin
3. Lack Of Tomorrows
4. Lack Of Tomorrows (Flack Su remix)

"Stop, Look Back" is a very nice relaxing track, "Safehouse" is very nice and "Semi Converse Confession" is so interresting and different- very good !!!!"
~ The Timewriter

"There's a huge problem with this release. And it's how to decide what track to play. This is early doors heaven and I'm loving every second of it. Best release so far on the label and I will most likely play all of these to the early crowd. Maybe I'll be able to decide on a favorite track, but it's going to be hard seeing as they're all great!!!"
~ Johan @ Sound Of Habib / Sweden

Frantically Calm

artist: DJ Trax
title: Frantically Calm / (ICR remix)
label: Misspent Music
catalogue: MISSPENT003
format: digital download
date: 11/2007
country: Hungary

"Everything we do is infused with the energy with which we do it. If we're frantic, life will be frantic. If we're peaceful, life will be peaceful. And so our goal in any situation becomes inner peace." - Marianne Williamson
info:
It's been 18 years since his debut and DJ Trax doesn't seem to be put off by the new millenium angst that's creeping into every genre. More to the point, he delivers a hefty piece of MUSIC. Is it drumandbass? Is it an extremely cinematic and emotional sample of an Eastern European expressionist movie sountrack? Frantically Calm is creeping in at halftempo and then gets 'frantic' in an avalanche of breaks and an ear-mollesting bassline intertwined with acoustic guitar licks that make you wish you knew how to play a damn instrument! The flip has the man behind Misspent, ICR, picking up the main elements of the original and coming up with his own interpretation of Frantically Calm: live breaks, muffled melancholic piano chords and the ubiquitous guitar licks run through the remix sounding like there's a whole band jamming on stage rather than one man and his computer.

Song For A Change

artist: ICR
title: Song For A Change / (faalb remix)
label: Misspent Music
catalogue: MISSPENT002
format: digital download
date: 10/2007
country: Hungary

"While we flatter ourselves that things remain the same, they are changing under our very eyes from year to year, from day to day." - Charlotte Perkins Gilman
info:
ICR keeps coming up with intricate atmospheres to keep the chin-stroking massive busy, and he's also got the straight beats and pounding subs to make a change. Oh, that's exactly what the tune says!
Song For A Change is a plea against aggressive-for-the-sake-of-it drumandbass that has been plagueing the scene, but at the same time taps into a social vein that listeners can't ignore. It's that type of song that makes you associate sounds with colours, events, feelings and when it becomes tactile, it peaks and leaves you in a higher state. Faalb is an up-and-coming electronica producer that takes the sweet harmonies in the original and, in Gescom style, skilfully glues them on a Skam-esque skippy and distorted pummeling beat. It serves as a delicate but firm aftershock of it's dnb cousin but it should become a firm favourite to fans of Bola or Vector Lovers.

Misspent / Long For You

artist: ICR
title: Misspent / Long For You
label: Misspent Music
catalogue: MISSPENT001
format: digital download
date: 10/2007
country: Hungary

"Time misspent in youth is sometimes all the freedom one ever has." - Anita Brookner
info:
Shying away from the blueprint of techy liquid rollers or formulated drumfunk, ICR goes for leftfield sonic aesthetics to express his own take on progressive, positive music. Misspent is a moody piece of drumandbass that sets off with an incredibly physical and epic soundscape that brings complex architecture to mind. The drumwork reclaims his Offshore affiliation with a driving yet understated b-line and sub stabs that punctuate the tune's discourse. Misspent is cinematic and emotional, a Mihalkov movie set to music of a higher form and function. Long For You follows the same aesthetics but in a more optimistic, liquidy manner over a straight 2-step pattern, with instrumental elements that make this one for the sunrise crowd.

Jah Meditation / Totem

artist: Loxy & Munk / Matt-U & ICR
title: Jah Meditation / Totem
label: X-tinction Agenda
catalogue: XA008
format: 12" vinyl
date: 07/2007
country: UK

Loxy & Keaton's label represents the near 'X-Tinct' sound of true D&B. Loxy and Munk take smash X side to bits, with the brooding 'Jah Meditation' A harmonious cocktail of mysterious ambience, energising beats and bassline menace. Matt U & ICR freak out on side Y. Paranoid intensity 'Totem' is pure darkness dancefloor D&B at its best. Lurking bass reverberation build a sense of dread as they roll over acid bleeps and melodic mist.

Back 2 Front / Razor Blade Runner

artist: ICR
title: Back 2 Front / Razor Blade Runner
label: Flatline Audio
catalogue: FLATLINE003
format: 12" vinyl
date: 07/2007
country: USA

info:
Flatline Audio, the USA's premiere hard and heavy D&B label is back with another stomping release. This one comes courtesy of ICR and the lead track 'Back 2 Front' mixes a Hip Hop swagger with enough harmonic discordance to seriously upset your sense of balance. 'Razor Blade Runner' on the flip is equally as disturbing, with esoteric sounds blending with a rumbling bassline and stepping drums to create another slick ear grinder.

V.A. - Buried Treasue

artist: V.A.
title: Buried Treasure
label: Offshore
catalogue: OSRCD001
format: CD
date: 04/2007
country: USA

info & tracklist:

Offshore is proud to present it's first album, Buried Treasure. In the form of 10 unmixed, exclusive and unreleased tracks, this CD is sure to please current fans and cultivate new ones.
To sweeten the deal, Offshore's aesthetic mastermind, CEDE, created an actual "Buried Treasure" comic strip featured on the CD insert and stars the ever popular mascot, Bing. All of the favorites are here, so take a musical journey through 10 tracks that help further define the Offshore sound and carve out a new future with the addition of a new format to the catalog.

01 ASC "Fragments"
Written and produced by James Clements. ASC wrote this with Offshore in mind. Those are always the tracks that we love!

02 Graphic "Stop Motion"
Written and produced by David O'Brien. Graphic's original beat for his project with Beans. Beans wrote lyrics for it, but they didn't mesh nearly as well as "I Am Metal".

03 ASC "Fotophresh (Cloak & Dagger Rmx)"
Written and produced by James Clements. Additional production and remix by Evan Gach. ASC remixed a Cloak & Dagger tune, so Cloak & Dagger came up with the 'combine and remix' idea for two of ASC's great Offshore tracks, "Photosphere" and "Fresh".

04 Graphic & Slide "Crash Kit"
Written and produced by David O' Brien and Seth Orgain. Graphic and Slide watched this track get added to and removed from the release schedule numerous times. We can't let them go through that again.

05 Raychem "Time for What?"
Written and produced by Jón Berg Jóhannesson. Raychem constantly sends us great music. We finally decided to showcase it.

06 Martsman "Marksman"
Written and produced by Martin Heinze. Martsman captured Offshore's attention with this track. We planned a 12" backed with "Ago", but that appeared on the second split with Commercial Suicide.

07 Intex Systems "Aural Void (ICR Rmx)"
Written and produced by James Clements. Additional production and remix by Zoltan Gal. ICR remixed this "Troubled Waters" exclusive after ASC's remix of "Change Inside" appeared on OSR011. We can't keep it to ourselves any longer.

08 Resound "Something"
Written and produced by Ilpo Karkkainen. Resound brought us this piece as the B-Side to OSR011. In the end, it did not appear on that release.

09 Fanu "Defunct Drums' Depression Decade VIP" Written and produced by Janne Hatula. Fanu gives his Offshore debut the VIP treatment. We don't have another 10" series though.

10 Sileni "Twitchy Droid Leg VIP"
Written and produced by Chris Leamy. Sileni's VIP of his seminal track. As the fifth rework in total, this marks the final chapter.

Released May 7, 2007 in the UK and June 4, 2007 in the US. Available digitally right now from Bleep! Preorder your copy at Breakbeat Science.
