The urban wilderness is the world of plunder, so one day - back in 2010 - Ambrus Tövisházi (Erik Sumo Band, Péterfy Bori Love Band) thought to go out fishing, to sack a scoop full of industrial murmurs and ambient noises of his living quarters. 'Hey, this totally calls for music. And lyrics.' - he thought then. After dropping a few lines in email to Kristóf Hajós-Dévényi of The Unbending Trees - asking if he would team up by taking the lyrics part - 'The Gomb' project started out right away, no messing around. Though the guys have never met prior to their collab, the album is now in the homestretch packed with 16 unique toned ballads, twisted with the singing voice of Tövisházi and Hajós-Dévényi. The album also features a previously unreleased track from The Unbending Trees, the rest fifteen is the duo's own work.

The only pop track of the album - Superman - was put up for remixing to Chi Recordings. Some of the heavy gunners of the label took it, and returned with 5 topnotch tracks of their interpretation.
There's this one peculiar state of mind that links all 'Superman' reworks, and unite all men of the planet, merging in one sigh: 'Lord, I've drunk myself to superman!' The booze in the hand makes the man fearless, invincible, a heartbreaker. Next day - while checking the bruises and scratches, earned by walking through windows - you become to a bittersweet recognition that you have no super powers at all, but you still have a real Superman hiding in you...
The heroes of the Chi Recordings team used their different forces to re-think 'The Gomb' song: Mongoose and Tshabee both pulled their own glitchy dubstep version. While the first one is a relaxed moderate piece, the latter one turns into a screaming madness. Empty Music is our guest hero from Australia, supporting the EP with his smooth tinkling 'Empty Streets Remix' tech house ballad, followed by a balearic deep house from ICR. The line is cut by a solid Kodek tech house rework.

Such Unimportant Things Like Us is ICR's most mature (and probably his final) drum and bass work to date, incorporating the very essence of his love of precisious drumworks and sensual musicality. The album is built around one topic that can be easily read out from the titles: it's about love and struggle for acceptance. As with this final chapter he closes his dnb roots, a new stage is already set: To Make Right What's Left is a necessary step forward, focused on 4/4 territory and other mid-tempo genres. The trademark deep and cinematic ICR sound remains the same, but in new forms. The double album is the best way to gain insight ICR's mind and soul thru his forward-thinking music in full spectre.

Following on from the critically acclaimed ‘Portraits Of The Invisible Man Remixes’, the second single taken from Orson Bramley’s solo album ‘Inverted Snobbery’ is finally here. Accompanying the album’s title track are remixes by Twenty Kid, Kodek, ICR and Cottonmouth.

‘Inverted Snobbery 1988’ is an insightful snap shot of Orson's lighter and more playful side of musical production. Strange but magical chords float softly above the unexpected beats as the thunderous bass-line powers along beneath the delicate melodies, making the listener feel as though everything thing is going to be OK!

With a collection of fantastic remixes from some of Orson Records’ favourite remixers of the moment, this release makes for another pleasurable listen from Mr Bramley.

The first three remixes come from three contrasting Hungarian artists; Twenty Kid takes the original into deeper techno territory, Kodek delivers a driving dancefloor workout, and ICR’s grooving adaptation adds a good dose of funk for all. Taking us back to the UK, dubstep maverick Cottonmouth lays down the bleeptastic beats and squelchy bass for the final reworking.

‘Inverted Snobbery 1988 EP’ is released on digital download as well as a limited edition run of coloured and etched vinyl, featuring artwork by Andrew Rae.

'Portraits of the Invisible Man’ is the first single to be taken from Orson Bramley’s solo album ‘Inverted Snobbery’. Orson calls up his friends and family for remix duty on this classic masterpiece. The remixes come in two parts, Part 1: Dubstep and Part 2: Techno.

Orson Bramley is probably best known as founder of the UK electro duo, Transparent Sound, as well as launching his own Orson Records. His ‘Inverted Snobbery’ album, released earlier in the year is a melodic and highly tuned feast of all things electronic, and draws on Orson's day-to-day experiences and inspiration from the people that he met and the places he went to whilst living in California. The album is a complete change in direction and style for Orson, incorporating live field recordings from around California. Pulling influences from all walks of electronic music, it’s a playful and refreshing listen that steps away from trends and pigeonholes.

Kicking off Part 2, are techno mixes from three contrasting Hungarian artists. Kodek turns in a driving dancefloor workout, Synus0006 takes it into deeper techno territory, and IRC’s grooving adaptation adds a good dose of funk.

Lastly we head back to Orson’s recent temporary home of California to join M50 for a blissfully slo-mo, shuffling tech adaptation, that completes this double-headed release.

This was made in 2010 at Randmuzik, Leipzig.
Including no less than 111 locked grooves by 111 artists divided into eighteen and a half groups of six loops each identified with group letters a to s and loops as a to f.
The first thirtysix loops have been made for 33 rpm use.
All the following grooves may or may not run at 45 rpm.

Side A: 45 RPM.

Drum & bass and science have always been natural partners. Zoltan Gal steps forward with his third studio LP "Something About Nothing" and proceeds to stamp his ICR signature all over.

Something About Nothing this is not, something about something it definitely is. From the semi-beatless opener of "Gain" to the ambient conclusion of "Loss" you are taken on a journey of atmospheres, textures and lovingly crafted beat trickery which has become a staple of his work. That said this is no one trick pony as ICR delivers melody in abundance and this is what truly stands out and comes through in tracks such as "Sense Of Touch" and "Epilog (Dazzle Me)". In a period of drum and bass that seems to be swamped with minimal offerings Zoltan is not afraid to deliver multi-layered breaks of the highest quality which hark back to the halcyon days of the genre. The intricate layering of samples and textures all add to give the LP an epic story like feel which ICR always tries to weave through his work.

After ICR’s two Mp3 only releases on Nerve, we decided it was time to get him on some vinyl for us!
The first track on the release – “Fill The Sky” is an epic chunk of dark dnb. It grows and grows and grows until it peaks at the end with some crashing apocalyptic breaks and grungy stabs. “Skanner” on the flip is on a whole different tip – its kinda dubby dnb meets techstep – strange I hear you say, well yes, but tis absolutely wicked so download it and fire it up!

Both tracks showcase ICRs amazing production talent once again and I can’t recommend his music highly enough so have a wander over to his site at http://www.icrmusic.blogspot.com/ and have a listen at more of his stuff

The original of Words was released on NERVEBP002 and we decided to go back in on it for the next MP3 only release.

ICR turned in his own remix which toughened up the track a tad – harder beats and bass but with the same eerie atmosphere of the original. For the flip we drafted in Scottish producer Lowbrow and his remix is a lovely slice of minimal, techy dnb. With the minimal thing being so popular in dnb at the mo, I’ve dropped this into the odd set this year and it’s went down a treat.

For the second of our Mp3 only releases we were very pleased to welcome onboard another amazing drum n bass producer from Hungary – ICR.

This man is one of the the most prolific drum n bass producers ever to fire up a sequencer. I’d started chatting to him online and he sent me amazing tune after amazing tune and I thought “Words” just had to come out on Nerve. It was perfect for us – tough beats and bass with an epic spooky breakdown and an eerie almost unsettling atmosphere. Amazing stuff.

For the flip we went for the more spacey beats of “Arcadia” – a bit on the lighter side but by no means a weaker track.

We released a few more ICR outings and more on those later. For now I recommend you check outICR’s site and his new label Misspent Music.

Implant has been involved in the local nightlife for many years as a promoter, DJ and regular contributor at drumandbass.hu. Now he's debuting as a producer with a 4-track EP that clearly represents his deep and soulful endge of dnb with rich musical variety. "At The Shores" is a beautifully crafted halfstep tune with melancolic guitar riffs, pianos and distored bass creating a unique, mellow atmosphere.
